He has become the personification of the state to everyone around the world. On my journeys around the world, I have met many people who are not from Colorado. They will declare, "Oh John Denver!" When they hear you come from Colorado. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits after performing with smaller folk groups. The song was written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it with Johnny Cash's music with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver was aware from the very first time he heard the first versions of the song that it could be a huge success. The song was recorded by the singer only a few days afterward when he performed it in front of the awe-inspiring crowd on the streets of Washington D.C.
